Mr. Martin began his career in Chicago at Baker & McKenzie, one of the first and largest law firms to serve global corporate clients. He has appeared frequently in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Throughout his career, Mr. Martin has represented Fortune 500 and large multi-national companies headquartered both in the United States and abroad. Although primarily focusing on commercial litigation matters, he also worked on white collar crime and corporate compliance matters. Since relocating to Colorado, Mr. Martin has continued to represent numerous Fortune 500 companies as well as small and mid-sized companies and individuals.

His past experience includes both criminal and civil cases involving antitrust violations, price fixing, import/export violations, bond mismarking, securities violations, healthcare fraud, complex contract disputes, insurance coverage, bad faith issues, enforcement of non-compete agreements, representation of shareholders in both large and closely held corporations, legal and accounting malpractice, product liability and employment issues.

Mr. Martin and his wife spend their free time kayaking, hiking, climbing and mountain biking.

Representative Cases

  • Represented client in enforcement of non-compete agreement involving proprietary software and other technology issues.
  • Coordinated client response to year-long criminal investigation by Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice involving alleged price fixing violations.
  • Represented inside and outside directors in regard to alleged corporate misconduct and participated in internal investigation and review of corporate compliance programs and resolution of alleged securities violations.
  • Defended major insurance company against breach of contract, bad faith, negligent misrepresentation and other claims.
  • Participated in the defense of various legal malpractice cases ranging from solo practitioners to 500+ member law firms.
  • Assisted in representation of foreign based client in series of interrelated antitrust claims alleging worldwide price fixing and bid rigging scheme.
  • Assisted in representation of client in relation to criminal export charges including parallel administrative enforcement actions by Commerce and State Departments.
  • Represented shareholders in closely held company regarding alleged breaches of fiduciary duty and related issues.
  • Participated in internal investigations to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines for external reporting to government agencies.
  • Defended major cable company in class action lawsuit.
  • Prepared and accompanied clients to grand jury appearances and interviews with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, and U.S. Attorney’s Office in cases involving antitrust violations, price fixing, government contracts, import/export violations and other criminal matters.
  • Represented clients in real estate disputes, including various lease disputes.
